  1. Set aside dedicated time at the beginning of the year to complete the Engage and Pursue phases.
  2. Use monthly or quarterly check-ins to revisit the Inspire and Cultivate phases
  3. Document progress in a journal or using the Goal planning tool to stay accountable and track your journey.

Step 1: Engage - Define your vision and connect with your "Why"

Purpose: Build awareness of where you are, what you want, and why it matters.

Reflect on your current situation:

  • What are your biggest achievements this year?
  • What challenges or obstacles have held you back?
  • What are your core values and how do they influence your decisions?

Define your vision for the year:

  • Where do you want to be by the end of the year (professionally and personally)?
  • How will this vision align with your values and purpose?

Engage with your stakeholders:

  • Who are the key people (mentors, peers, colleagues, family) that can help you achieve your vision?
  • How can you communicate your goals effectively to gain their support?


Step 2: Pursue - Break down goals into actionable steps

Purpose: Transform your vision into SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals.

Set Specific Goals:

  • What are the key objectives you need to achieve to fulfill your vision?
  • Categorize them into personal, professional, and community impact.

Prioritize your goals:

  • Which goals will create the most significant impact?
  • Rank them based on your urgency and importance.

Identify action steps:

  • For each goal, break it into smaller, actionable steps.
  • Set deadlines or timelines for each step.

Anticipate challenges:

  • What barriers might you face in pursuing these goals?
  • How can you prepare or build a support system to overcome them?

Step 3: Inspire - Find motivation and celebrate progress

Purpose: Cultivate inspiration and ensure consistent momentum throughout the year

Define your motivation:

  • What inspires you to pursue these goals?
  • How do these goals connect with your long-term aspirations?

Set milestones to celebrate success:

  • Identify key milestones for each goal?
  • Plan small celebrations or rewards for achieving these milestones.

Seek inspiration from others:

  • Who are role models or thought leaders you can learn from?
  • What books, podcasts, or events can fuel your journey?

Revisit your vision periodically:

  • Schedule monthly or quarterly check-ins to review progress.
  • Use these moments to reconnect with your "why" and adjust if needed.

Step 4: Cultivate - Sustain growth and build for the future

Purpose: Reflect, adapt, and ensure lasting success through continuous improvement.

Review and reflect:

  • At the end of each month or quarter, ask:
    • What worked well?
    • What didn't go as planned?
    • What lessons have you learned?

Adapt and Adjust:

  • How can you refine your strategies based on what you've learned?
  • Are there new opportunities or challenges to consider

Nurture relationships:

  • Who helped you along the way, and how can you show gratitude?
  • How can you mentor or inspire others based on your experience?

Set a foundation for next year:

  • What habits or systems can you cultivate to build long-term success?
  • What goals can you start preparing for the next year?
